The Nueva School Campus

At Nueva, learning is open-ended. It doesn't happen in neatly segmented subject areas or only in the classroom. Instead, "for us it happens everywhere, when you plan it and don't plan it," says Lee. "It happens organically," and students help drive the direction and location of the learning. The openness encourages connection, as students and teachers overhear and add to conversations relevant to their interests. Students can also choose to meet with teachers in more informal spaces, which improves the quality of their connection with faculty.

Kravis Center Building

Students and teachers alike are drawn to alcoves that are scattered throughout the building, attracted by their casual feel and natural light. Sometimes the meetings that take place in these spaces are planned. Other times, students and faculty members will bump into each other in the hallway and have a quick chat.

Greenlaw

Traditional lecture hall using stadium seating was converted to a tiered active learning hall using mobile tablet chairs across six learning zones separated by knee walls. Each learning zone has its own whiteboard and wireless display.
