HyFlex

Burk Hall

This classroom supports active learning pedagogy with technology-enhanced collaborative group stations, interactive whiteboard technology, and state-of-the-art AV capabilities. This classroom supports HyFlex course delivery, connecting online synchronous learners with students in the physical classroom.

Monroe Library

This classroom is the result of a move from another space. It is used primarily by librarians to teach research, all kinds of software, etc., to students and faculty, although faculty from throughout the university use it when they need the advantages the space provides. Due to budget constraints we kept the old desks for students, which were purchased 20 years ago and meant to support collaborative work groups. There are 30 desktops for students, as well as power/USB for laptops, tablets, and phones.

Baker Systems

This room and one other are part of the Innovative Spaces Program (http://u.osu.edu/innovativespaces/), which is a collaboration between the Office of Distance Education and eLearning, Office of the University Registrar, and University Center for the Advancement of Teaching. By providing targeted access to spaces designed for active learning, this program encourages greater focus on active learning pedagogy and more deliberate utilization of physical spaces. Go to http://streaming.osu.edu/classroom/be/285/build/index.html for a 360 view of the space.

Technology Annex

This classroom is a Distance Origination Studio that blends face-to-face with synchronous distance students. AI tracking camera and array microphones broadcast via web-conference software allowing distance students to see and hear the class and participate with the room. Nesting tables and chairs with power outlets for students in the floor allow for a variety of room configurations. Extron control system allows for automation allowing Instructor to initiate system startup and teach a fully hybrid class with face-to-face and online students without having to worry about AV controls.
