Space Overview
These exciting new classrooms were designed for student engagement and collaboration and are based on the feedback and research of Rutgers faculty and the Digital Classroom Services team. The goal of this collaboration-based learning is to get students to engage with material, test their knowledge of concepts, critically work through problems, develop their ability to constructively dialogue and work with others in groups. Students sit at large Cluster tables of nine which have power outlets and wired connection points that can be used to send laptop, phone, or tablet images to a group monitor. Students can also work on wall-to-wall whiteboards or at their tables using hand-held whiteboard tablets. Rolling seats with bag and water bottle storage enables students to easily partner up and form different groups to engage in collaborative tasks. The centrally located instructor station is connected to each group's monitor as well as to the four large displays facing each side of the classroom from above the instructor station. Using Mersive screen sharing the instructor can send their presentation material to any one of the room's 14 displays in the classroom. Faculty can also preview or share student images from group monitors to any combination of the room's monitors.
